Transferable skills

TRAM offers a defined curriculum of transferable skills workshops, consisting of obligatory and elective modular training units. These courses are organized especially for TRAM members, thus students in the same project phase are pooled to participate in one workshop to strengthen the corporate feeling amongst them. During their PhD, all TRAM students participate for at least two days a year in transferable skills workshops.

At the start of their PhD project, all our students must attend the intensive introduction in the “basics of scientific work”, dealing with good scientific practice, life science databases, statistics, and time management. In the second year, our students learn how to improve their scientific oral and poster presentations and to write scientific publications. In the third year, PhD students can choose from a variety of career tools for academia and industry, respectively, as well as several courses on advanced scientific writing.

In agreement with their mentoring team and the coordinator, interested students are able to attend additional specialized courses on scientific skills. These courses can be chosen from the broad range of advanced education opportunities available in and around Frankfurt, e.g.
BioKemika, Golin, GRADE, MentorinnenNetzwerk, and SciMento.
